VARIATIONS

• For a simpler version, each player puts out only one card at a time.

• To make the game shorter, remove the Twos, Threes, Fours, Fives, and Sixes, Remember that Sevens will now follow Aces.

STRATEGY

As in all bluffing games, keeping a straight face is important. Try not to give anything away with moans, groans, or grins.

Remember, it’s good for you when someone challenges by mistake. So if you’re a good actor, pretend you’re bluffing when you’re really telling the truth.

As the game nears its end, more people will be bluffing and getting caught—so that’s the time to play honest cards if you can.

Try to fill some of the gaps in your hand. If you don’t have any low cards, try to challenge the first time low cards are played. If it’s early in the game, you’ll almost certainly lose your challenge and end up with the low cards you’ll need for later on. But don’t challenge if the pile in the center is already large.
